Completed as the client project for an Indiana University online course, this visualization solves the challenge of navigating the history, relationship, and development of visual semantics encoded in 7000+ AIDS posters. The poster data was curated and provided by the German Hygiene Museum (DHMD). The semantic classification used, ICONCLASS, is a hierarchically ordered collection of definitions for objects, people, events, and abstract ideas that serve as the subject of an image.
